The Transformation
Before
After
RB Printing & Marketing has spent more than fifty years building a reputation for exceptional print quality and customer service in San Diego. But somewhere along the way, the conversations with clients started to change.
The Challenge
Customers stopped asking only about print. They wanted websites. Search visibility. Digital marketing. AI. Business strategy. Automation. RB Printing was facing the same gap that most traditional businesses eventually hit: how do you keep serving clients as their needs evolve past what you originally built the company to do?
The easy answer would have been to keep printing and refer everything else out. RB Printing chose the harder path.
What We Did
Rather than send clients elsewhere, RB Printing invested in its own transformation first. Internally, that meant implementing AI throughout daily operations to improve efficiency, consistency, and decision-making, and designing custom operational software built around the way the business actually works instead of forcing it into generic off-the-shelf tools.
Externally, it meant expanding well beyond commercial printing — into websites, SEO, GEO, AI search optimization, digital marketing, and strategic consulting — and building the systems to attract new customers, re-engage dormant clients, and position company leadership as trusted experts in the industry.
One of the clearest threads running through the work was connecting print and digital rather than treating them as separate disciplines. Printed materials were built to support digital campaigns; digital campaigns were built to strengthen print investments. Neither works as well alone.
The Result
RB Printing evolved from a traditional commercial printer into a modern marketing and consulting company — without losing the culture and customer relationships that made the business successful for fifty years.
That same transformation is also where Russo Collective came from. It wasn’t started because we wanted to launch a consulting company — it was started because RB Printing’s own clients kept asking for help beyond printing. They trusted the relationship, and they wanted a partner who understood both traditional business and modern marketing. Russo Collective became the natural next step, built on lessons learned from transforming our own company first.
